Silence and internalization are detrimental to the process of dealing and living with depression. For the past ten years I have grappled with my mental health largely in solitude. My eight attempts at suicide have gone unvoiced. Traditional methods of treatment include medication or therapy session. These options are often expensive or out of reach for many who need them. However, we have the power to change this. An attentive conversation with a friend, or even a understanding stranger can make a world of difference to those that struggle with depression. With this sound installation I hope to begin conversations, not only about my own experiences, but that of others, to create support systems that people who struggle with mental health so desperately require.
